Park Na Špici

Pardubice,
2016

Our task was to revitalize the area at the confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers for the recreational use of Pardubice residents. The area is in the immediate vicinity of the city center and previously had the character of a nature park. Therefore, the primary need was to create sufficient pedestrian and bicycle connections linking the area to the surrounding network of bike paths. We planned to build footbridges across both the Chrudimka and the Elbe rivers, and we sought to create functional uses for the island, primarily as a leisure center for the city’s residents. Funding for the project was very limited, so we proposed a single multifunctional building with a restaurant and facilities for the public to engage in sports, situated above the surface of Čičák Pond. Fixed and floating piers, seating by the water with a view of the river, the construction of a mini-beach, a boathouse, a petting zoo, and improvements to the existing playgrounds create synergy among athletes, families with children, and seniors, contributing to a significant revitalization of the area.
